HECTOR Erasmus

HECTOR (Industrial Heritage as Key Competences for Tourist Operators) is an Erasmus+ project developed in collaboration with nine European partners.

The aim of the project is ambitious: to train tourist guides with specialized knowledge in the field of industrial heritage. Through their work, they will raise awareness about the connection between industrial heritage and tourism, contributing to their recognition.

The HECTOR project offers an educational program that includes online training and a one-week course in the form of a summer school.

The online course is already available on the e-learning platform (https://elearning.hector-training.eu/), where anyone can register for free and follow the content modules.

At the end of the online course, participants can take a final quiz and, upon successful completion, receive a certificate.

To be eligible for selection for the summer school, candidates must successfully complete the online quiz and upload an English Europass version of their CV by July 15, 2022.

The summer school will take place from September 12 to 18, 2022, and is open to individuals aged 18 to 35 with permanent residency in one of the European Union countries, proficiency in English, and experience in the tourism sector.

The summer school will involve a one-week intensive course in Abbadia San Salvatore (SI), Italy, within the premises of a significant and inspiring industrial archaeological center.

In addition to various training sessions, the summer school will include meetings with experts from the tourism sector and institutions relevant to the project, as well as a visit to the mining museum in Abbadia.

Participants of the HECTOR summer school will come from seven or more partner countries.

The international context will provide participants with an additional opportunity to engage in activities in close contact with other European institutions, exchange perspectives, and contribute to the development of a stronger and more enduring European identity. In line with the requirements of the Erasmus+ projects, the HECTOR project aims to facilitate entry into the job market. It is designed to be particularly useful in the tourism sector, providing theoretical foundations, practical examples of best practices, direct interaction with experts in the field, and an innovative perspective on a relatively unexplored topic such as industrial heritage tourism.
